If parenting time is being denied or manipulated, documentation matters—but so does staying calm and safe. The goal is to create a clean record that can be used by your attorney or the court.
Start with a simple log
Date/time of the exchange
Exact location
Who was present
What happened (short, factual)
Any messages/emails related to the incident
When an investigation helps
Repeated last-minute cancellations
Claims that you ‘didn’t show’ when you did
Concerns about who the child is around during the other parent’s time
Safety concerns that require objective documentation
